It is six in the morning and IOS wants to update. Do I want to install it now? I am barely awake, but I don’t want to fall behind. I have a coffee and make the school run. Now Acrobat Reader wants to update and Acrobat Pro too. And there is a message from Apple asking me to verify an App.
Minutes pass and then I need to look at my bank account. My bank wants my passcodes, ID, DOB etc. And something called a Secure Digital Key. I won’t keep a mobile banking app on my phone in case I lose it, so I don’t know if I have a SDK…I want to set up a revolving debit on my credit card so I ring the bank. I have, apparently a phone password and an electronic password, both of which are attached to my ‘Memorable Question’ or my ‘Memorable Answer’. There is also a digital app password, just to keep me on my toes.
It is not yet mid-morning and Linked In wants my password. I can’t remember it. Then Facebook wants one too.
Even the people who sell me Light Bulbs want me to create and account with a password. Think I’ll pass on that one. Oh and the Battery People too. My mouse is running out of batteries from all the password typing I’m doing.
And now the Operation Cannot Be Completed because the file is in use. Yes, of course it is, by me, I am trying to copy it from one place to another. I have to log out of my computer and log back in – with a password of course.
I just wanted to review some bank accounts and transactions and it has taken me nearly an hour. I have over fifty numbers in my ‘Important Numbers’ folder. And now all new passwords must be a minimum of 8 characters, contain capitals, non-alphabetics, letters and numbers.
Is this Secure Heaven? No, I think it is nearer Hell.
