The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics show that mental distress is increasing rapidly in the UK. Almost one in five adults (19.2%) were likely to be experiencing some form of depression during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in June 2020; this had almost doubled from around 1 in 10 (9.7%) before the pandemic (July 2019 to March 2020).

With access to help restricted by waiting lists and availability – and the particular need for depressed people to have a place to talk over an extended period, our Talk for Health programme with its excellent results is an obvious alternative for help. We call it ‘therapy without therapists’.

This programme is already funded by our NHS in the London Borough of Islington, known for its high rates of mental distress. All Talk for Health programmes and events are FREE to access and use, wherever you live.

You can find out much more about the programme here: www.talkforhealth.co.uk

If you have questions, you can email me: roy@talkforhealth.co.uk and I will do my best to answer them.

Do take a look. You have nothing to lose but your distress!
